I have always loved cooking and food. When other kids were getting video games and toys for Christmas I was getting knives and cook books.
As a teenager I worked for a restaurant as a line cook and as a sou chef. As I neared high school graduation I seriously contemplated going to culinary school to become a professional chef. In the end, though, I decided against cooking as a career path.
After finishing college I ended up being hired as an IT Manager for a large fast food franchisee. Even when I decided I didn't want to work as a chef I couldn't get away from food services!
I spent more than 10 years as the IT Manager (and really the IT department) for a franchisee with more than 50 restaurants. I did all of the back end collections of sales, food costs, labor costs and menu mix. I ran, created and analyzed sales and menu data. I saw first hand what did and didn't work on a daily basis.
Eventually though I realized that I was done with just crunching numbers and data. I wanted to get out on my own and work for myself. For years I had freelanced part time as a business consultant, helping small businesses with web design, marketing and more.
Eventually though my love of food and restaurants pulled me back. Now i help independent restaurant owners build strong maps that help them grow their restaurants. My unique experience as a cook, a numbers guy and a business consultant helps me help restaurant owners to build the best restaurants that they can.
